The plaque in question is located in Via del Corso, in the stretch of road included in the Rione Colonna district, commemorates the English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (Horsham 1792-Gulf of La Spezia 1822) and is located near the house where the poet lived.
The plaque was placed here in 1892 by the Municipality of Rome.
As reported to us by a user, the plate originally reported an error: instead of "I Cenci" (the Cencis) it was written "La Cenci" (the Cenci girl). This error did not go unnoticed and it seems that it was the Italian poet Giosuè Carducci who corrected it. Over time, however, the word "La", initially covered up, resurfaced and today we see the articles "La" and "I" superimposed, which explains the strange letter seen in that line.
